Safety Data Sheets
A Safety Data Sheet (SDS) is a document that provides information on the properties of hazardous chemicals, how they affect health and safety in the workplace and how to manage the hazardous chemicals in the workplace. An SDS must be prepared before first manufacturing or importing a hazardous chemical, or if this is not possible , as soon as practicable after first manufacturing the chemical. Safe Work Australia’s Code of Practice for the Preparation of Safety Data Sheets for Hazardous Chemicals provides detailed guidance on how to prepare an SDS in accordance with the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS).
