When particle size changes the shipping classification
Particle size can materially change how a solid bulk cargo behaves in transport. For phosphate rock fines, that difference was significant enough to support a new Group A IMSBC schedule for liquefaction risk. This case study looks at why the classification changed, what that means operationally, and how the technical case was developed.
